Fire Relief Tongariro National Park

Kia ora e te whānau,

We want to acknowledge the significant fire that has impacted our rohe within Tongariro National Park. Whakapapa Village residents have been evacuated and are being supported at Otūkou Marae.

If anyone wishes to koha goods or kai to support the evacuees, there is a drop-off point at Raetihi Marae until 3pm today.

Our thoughts are with all those affected, and we extend our aroha and gratitude to the emergency services, volunteers, and marae teams providing care and shelter.

A rāhui has been placed by Hikairo over the affected area. We ask everyone to respect the rāhui as recovery and safety efforts continue.
